Information Security Management: BS ISO/IEC 27001:2005
BSS specialises in the supply, installation and post sales technical and maintenance support to meet customer’s specific requirements.
The nature of the company’s activities places particular emphasis on experience, expertise, capability, performance, safety, reliability and information security.
The management objective: To protect the organisations information assets from all types of threats, whether internal or external, deliberate, or accidental - Ensuring information system security.
In order to achieve this objective it is the policy of the company to establish and maintain an effective and efficient Information Security Management System, planned and developed in conjunction with other management functions.
The management of BSS recognises that a successful Information Security Policy demands to be based on the principle of a moving target.
The company’s ISMS aim to achieve 3 main benefits:
- An internal benefit, ensuring that an appropriate management system is in place to look after the security of its own information.
- Improved confidence from trading partners being able to demonstrate improved client confidentiality.
- Being able to demonstrate compliance with statutory and regulatory issues.
As such all active components within this mix require to be continually monitored and updated where appropriate to ensure that the level of effectiveness of the ISMS is never diminished: Rather it is subject to continuous improvement.
The company shall ensure that management, Administrative and technical personnel are fully conversant with the company’s objectives through an on-going training education programme for personnel at all levels within the company.
Ensuring that:
- Assets will be classified as to the level of protection required.
- Information will be protected against unauthorised access.
- Confidentiality of information will be assured.
- Integrity of information will be maintained.
- Personnel security requirements will be met.

Quality Management: ISO 9001:2008

The Management objective: to provide services in a manner which conforms to the specified requirements of the Company, its suppliers and its customers.
In order to achieve this objective it is the policy of the Company to establish and maintain an effective and efficient Quality Management System planned and developed in conjunction with other management functions. This works alongside the ISMS Security System BS ISO/IEC 27001:2008 (Information Technology - Code of Practice for Information Security Management). Please refer also to the ISMS Security Manual and Procedures for further details.

Environmental Policy: BS EN ISO 14001
This Environmental Policy ensures the management of BSS supports and commits to its environmental responsibilities in all of its business activities. In line with our company vision BSS prides itself on good relationships with the public, authorities, clients, suppliers and other interested parties with which it comes into contact.
BSS demonstrates a commitment to continually improve performance in pollution prevention in all aspects of our business and maintain compliance with applicable legal requirements to which we subscribe.
Specifically, we measure our performance in five key target areas:
- Waste
- Energy Management
- Environmental Awareness Training
- Vehicle Emission
- Infringement of Environmental Regulations
Environmental objectives and targets are set with the managing Director and implemented throughout the management system.
Regular management reviews measure the effectiveness of the Environmental Management system and supports development within the programme.
All employees have received appropriate environmental training and have developed an awareness of these environmental areas:
- Pollution Prevention
- Minimising Waste
- Identifying and Managing Environmental Risks and Hazards
- Provide prompt response to Environmental Incidents and Emergencies
- Encourage proactive response to Government Environmental Initiatives
In line with other BSS Management system policies we incorporate the above commitments into our business practices and ensure we translate them into appropriate environmental objectives and targets.
This policy is communicated to all personnel within BSS and the integrity of information is retained within the Environmental Management System.

Health & Safety Policy
Business and Scientific Services recognises that it has a responsibility under the law to ensure that all reasonable precautions are taken to provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions for its employees.
You as an employee also have legal responsibilities for your own and fellow employees' health and safety.
Business and Scientific Services undertakes to provide and maintain, so far as is reasonably practicable, a safe and healthy place of work by:
- the provision and maintenance of at least the minimum standards relating to Health and Safety as defined in the legislation.
- the provision of a reasonably comfortable and clean working environment.
- the provision of access to emergency first aid via a trained first aider.
- the provision of a safe means of access to, and exit from work.
- the maintenance of a working environment which is safe, without risks to health, and has adequate systems and procedures for welfare at work.
Your responsibilities include:
- reading and understanding the Health and Safety Procedures.
- abiding by the Health and Safety procedures set out in Business & Scientific Services Health and Safety policy.
- reporting any accidents, whether resulting in injury or not, to the Health and Safety Officer.
- reporting any observed hazards to the Health and Safety Officer.
- co-operating with fellow employees to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
